Maria Nicoletta Gaida, a member of the IPESE advisory board and the president of the Ara Pacis Initiative for Peace and the Pax Humana Foundation from Rome, will be a panelist at the 2024 – A Wakeup Call for the Sahel conference organized by the Transatlantic Leadership Network on Friday, February 2th, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM.

Since 2020, the Sahel region and West Africa have experienced a wave of coups, creating political and security turmoil in the region, with broader implications that will be discussed during the panel.
In addition to Mrs. Maria Nicoletta Gaida, the other panelist will be:
- Saleem Ali, distinguished professor specializing in energy and the environment at the University of Delaware
- Retired Ambassador Charles Ray, Institute for Foreign Policy Research, Washington, D.C.
- Retired General Didier Castres, former Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations of the French Army
